This year, a unique event is set to leave its mark on the city in an entirely new way: « Le Gardien du Temple ». On 25, 26 and 27 October, Toulouse will be transformed into a vast open-air stage set to host this extraordinary event. A large-scale open-air spectacle
Created by the street theatre company La Machine, « Le Gardien du Temple » is a monumental event at the crossroads of art, history and technology. Along an immersive artistic route, giant mechanical creatures — true moving works of art — will roam the streets of Toulouse. These impressive constructions, combining engineering with street art, invite audiences to rediscover the city from a whole new angle.
The idea behind the show is simple, yet powerful: to bring the city to life as an open temple, where every street and every monument becomes a sacred element in this gigantic staging. La Machine is renowned for its monumental creations, not least « Le Grand Éléphant » in Nantes, and promises an unforgettable experience.
An immersive artistic route through the streets of Toulouse
For three days, Toulouse will be transformed into a huge open-air theatre. The route taken by the Gardien du Temple will lead audiences through some of the city’s most emblematic sites. From the place du Capitole to the basilique Saint-Sernin, by way of the quai de la Daurade and the Jardin des Plantes, every location will be woven into the story and the choreography of the giant creature.
Spectators will be able to follow the creature on its journey and stop along the way to admire the dancers, musicians and acrobats performing at points all along the route. Every street will become a stage, every monument a backdrop, and every spectator will be invited to take an active part in this journey between dream and reality.
